Rv Transfer Switch Clicking

I checked power coming into the transfer switch from the genny and discovered 87 volts ac on one leg the other leg was fine.

An automatic transfer switch is a three way switch that will switch power between two inputs and connect it into a single output. I have had a loud buzzing noise inside my landmark for some time now. That is a very strange number in the electrical world. 5th trip with our 4000 started the generator ran for 5 minutes then the automatic transfer swith started making clicking studdering sound and then no power. We were sitting outside tonight and could hear a click every few minutes.

You can take the cover off the transfer switch and watch the buss mechanically switch when shore power is removed or supplied or the generator starts. The transfer switch was clicking continually. It is an educational exercise to watch what is happening and to hear the sound to differentiate it from the inverter. It is a lyght transfer switch and not sure of the model.

Hopefully this will be helpful to those trying to figure out why they don t have power. The automatic transfer switch is installed before the breaker panel. I had a similar issue start while running on generator power. Turned off all ac s restarted gen turned on 1 ac then the second and transfer switch made no noise and power stayed.
